UnderMine is about to receive its first, major, post-launch update and it’s a big one! It’s taken us longer than normal because we have some super secret work going on, but this was also a pretty ambitious chunk of content. We hope you enjoy it.

Welcome to UnderMine 1,1.0 Royals! You thought we were done with UnderMine at 1.0? Well you weren’t paying attention! We’re not finished packing new content and features in yet. Version 1.1.0 includes something for everyone. Have you run dozens of summoning stones? Conquered the Othermine? Well, prepare yourself for the Contested Bog, a new and optional zone that will test your skills more than any other area of UnderMine. Haven’t seen the last boss yet? No worries, we have stuff for you too. A new NPC that will help you out for a tip, some new enemies for areas you’re familiar with, and a couple of new items thrown in for good measure. Let’s get to it!

Bog.png

THE Contested Bog

The Contested Bog is a new and optional zone that appears after the peasant has defeated Seer and reached the final room with Death’s Hand. One does not simply enter the Bog though. If you want to set foot in this new area, you’ll need to discover the requirements for entry. Also, be warned: the Bog is the toughest area in the entire Undermine. You’ll find new challenges here that will test your skills like never before. All of the enemies are unique and far more powerful and aggressive than creatures in other parts of the Undermine. If you explore carefully you may also find a few well hidden secrets. Good luck peasant!

The Plunder King

We won’t spoil exactly who or what The Plunder King is, but we can say that he is the boss of the Contested Bog and is the most challenging boss you’ll fight in UnderMine, so buckle up and sharpen that pickaxe.

It’s important to note that all of the new content will also be available in Othermine. The Bog and its enemies will be added to the pool of potential zones once discovered. The Plunder King will be added as a potential boss once he has been fought at least once.

Tus, Wandering Minstrel

CA_Tus.gif

Tus is a traveling bard, just trying to make his way in a tough world while honing his craft. When you meet Tus, you’ll have the option to tip him for providing chill vibes to the Undermine. Tus will react differently depending on how much you tip him. We’ll leave it up to you to discover the full breadth of options.

NEW Enemies

We’ve added 16 new enemies to UnderMine. A lot of these new enemies appear in the new Contested Bog, but some have been added to existing zones, including the Goldmine. We want to continue adding variety to the game and feel a big opportunity is in the earlier zones that tend to be visited more often. These new enemies have dramatically different attacks, so players will have to adapt and develop new techniques for eliminating them.

CA_BloatFly.gif

Bloatfly

Bloatflies have similar behavior to other flies in UnderMine, but they die in a shower of poisonous shells so be careful how you dispatch them.

CA_GoblinEngineerPlant.gif

Goblin Engineer

If left unchecked Goblin Engineers will fill a room with deadly landmines. Best take out these mischievous creatures as soon as possible. We’ve also added 2 goblin variants that plant even deadlier traps.

CA_HobbledManakinAttack.gif

Hobble Doll

Hobble dolls are summoned from an Occultist (another new enemy.) They teleport to the peasant and aim a disabling field in their direction. This field applies the hobble status effect which dramatically slows movement and prevents jumping.

CA_JellyfishBishopIdle.gif

Bishop’s Fish

Some players may recognize the pattern on this floating fish. Bishop’s Fish periodically fires projectiles on the diagonal. It’s a safe bet that you’ll see variants of this enemy with similarly predictable patterns.

CA_BingBongIdle2.gif

Bing Bong

Bing Bong really throw a wrench in the plans of peasants that like to attack in melee. If a peasant gets too close, the Bing Bong will hide in its bell, becoming invulnerable. It does have one weakness though, and that is loud noises.

CA_GremlinFieryIdle.gif

Gremlin Harbinger

Gremlin Harbingers now back up regular Gremlins in the Golden Core. These flying devils prefer to hang back, firing fireballs at any peasant they see.

SEED Entry and Boss Tracker

Can I offer you a quality of life improvement (or two) in these trying times? There is a new “seed” option on the pause menu that can be accessed while in the hub. This lets you generate a new seed or enter one manually. This way you can take on the same challenges as your friends. Perhaps even race them?

Also, we’ve added a new boss tracker to the summoning stone menu. This will show you the status of each of the five main bosses. An X indicates that they are currently dead, so no need to visit their lair, except for maybe that totem of life proc.

New Items and Curses

Items weren’t a big focus for this update, but we managed to get some pretty cool ones in anyways. We did generate a boat load of ideas for new ones though, so look for those in the future.

DeadMansSwitch.png

Dead Man’s Switch

Be careful when dispatching enemies, because they’ll fire an arrow in your direction when killed.

Ostiophobia.png

Ostiophobia

More skeletons than you’d like.

Shrapnel.png

Shrapnel

Friendly bomb blasts release projectiles that shred your enemies.

HeavyBoots.png

Heavy Boots

Activate the jump button in mid air to slam downwards with tremendous force.

MegaBomb.png

M.E.G.A. Bomb

Created by combining Lightning Bomb and Golden Power, the MEGA Bomb chains lightning from enemy to enemy with a chance to turn each to solid gold.

Hayfever.png

Hay Fever

Think the plants are out to get you? Well they are.

SEEEEEEECRETS

There is more to this update than we’ve talked about in this preview. That’s it. That’s all we’re saying.

The Future

This update isn’t all we’ve been working on. We actually have our hands full with some very exciting things. You may have even seen us teasing these on Twitter. Unfortunately we’re not in a position to talk about them yet. We had hoped we could have made an announcement by now, but that’s just the way things are sometimes. Just know, we have more to share, and we’re eager to do so. Once we get the green light we will shout the news from the mountaintops. Until then, we hope you enjoy this update, and we hope you have a happy holidays (as happy as possible in this dreadful year.)
