Welcome everyone to the Golden Core update preview. The Golden Core is UnderMine’s 5th and final zone (at least of mainline progression,) and contains the game’s penultimate boss Seer, World’s Heart! We’ve always had a strong vision for this zone and are very excited to finally be realizing it for you all.

That being said, we’re also excited to announce that the Golden Core Update is going to be UnderMine’s last update of early access. Now, as exciting as that is, we understand everyone has very high expectations for this game. We want to be clear that we are fully committed to supporting and updating UnderMine well beyond the 1.0 release. In many ways nothing is going to change. We plan to continue adding features and new content to the game. However, we do expect there to be a bit more delay between updates as we prepare the console versions of UnderMine.

We have big plans for the full release of the game, but until then let’s discover what’s new in the Golden Core!

The Golden Core

The Golden Core is the deepest part of the Undermine. It is an incredibly hostile environment with rivers of molten gold, blasting heat vents, and dangerous creatures. It seems like there once was a type of civilization here, but only remnants remain. Heroics line the walls of an ancient beast lurking within. Adventuring through it will be a challenge, but the peasant’s goal is so close at hand! The fifth and final fragment resides here and is ready to be collected!

Adventure through the Golden Core, discover its secrets, and challenge its lord: Seer, World’s Heart.

Seer, World’s Heart

Seer is the literal heart of the world. His body and lair radiate warmth and energy, sustaining life all the way up to the surface. Unfortunately he also holds the final fragment Arkanos has been searching for, which means it’s the peasant’s duty to retrieve it. Many champions have challenged Seer over the years and his body tells tales of hard fought battles. Some may recognize his severed tail, or the scars from where his blood was spilled.

Are you prepared to succeed where so many others have failed? Do you have what it takes to fell this beast and retrieve the final fragment? The journey to the bottom of the UnderMine is long and full of perils. Good luck peasant!

New Enemies!

The Golden Core update adds 8 new enemies (actually it’s a bit more, we squeezed a couple in at the wire.) These new enemies have completely new move-sets that challenge the player in all new ways. Most call the Golden Core their home, but some help fill out older zones, and of course they will all appear in the Othermine.

Crossbowman

Marksmen trained along side footmen at the barracks and tasked with defending the dungeon from intruders. Crossbowmen keep their distance and attack with precision arrow volleys.

Rift Wurm

Rift Wurms only know moving forward and turning at 90 degree angles. Be careful of their bite though. Oh, and make sure to kill the entire wurm, or you may end up with more on your hands.

Som’s Golem

These mindless golems have no ill intent, but they are also incredibly stupid and don’t understand they are covered in spikes. Don’t let them get too close, even if they are only curious.

Gremlin

Gremlins are dangerous creatures that guard the deepest parts of the UnderMine. Their ability to fly keeps them well above many of the dangerous hazards of the Golden Core.

Othermine

All of the new encounters and enemies are also being added to Othermine. As we continue to add new zones and enemies those will be added as well. We see Othermine as a mode that will continue to expand. A run of othermine will remain 4 zones and 4 bosses, which means you won’t always get the same ones!

The Future

As we approach the full release of UnderMine we grow more and more excited. We have a lot planned for the 1.0 update, and it will be one of the biggest to date. It should have something for everyone. Until then, we hope you enjoy the Golden Core, and find a proper challenge in Seer.
